My Wholesome Kitchen is the place to find recipes that feature whole foods and fresh milled whole grains, but isn’t afraid to indulge your sweet tooth too. Because what is life without chocolate?
I’m the face behind the name and the wearer of all hats here at My Wholesome Kitchen. I’m a lover of Jesus, my husband and our 4 little ones, beautiful things, big families, wine, sweet treats, natural and traditional living, critical thinking, and anything that scratches my creative itch. I live in my small Texas hometown, working with my husband to put down our own family roots and build a life we love. Life is busy around here, but no matter how many new hats I wear, I’m never far from the kitchen.
My first love was baking. Ever since getting my first Easy Bake Oven, I’ve been pestering my family (did I mention I have 8 siblings?) to try this or that baked good. Yet alas, man cannot live on bread alone, so when I got married and started having babies of my own, I leaned hard into honing my cooking skills too. Over time, I’ve adapted our family recipes to cut the processed stuff and feature more traditional cooking methods and whole food ingredients: a little less canned soup and a little more fresh veggies. I strove to find the balance between nourishing meals and drool-worthy flavor, while being kid and budget friendly.
I discovered the benefits of freshly milled whole grains, and baking with fresh milled flour became the perfect way to feed my sweet tooth and still feel great about what I was serving my family. From soft sandwich breads to gooey cinnamon rolls and wholesome cookies, I began transforming classic recipes into nutrient-rich, family-approved favorites.
I believe true wellness is about balance. Nourishing your body with whole foods is important—but so is nourishing your soul. For me, that means time with Jesus, time with family, and yes, a warm chocolate chip cookie straight from the oven.
